New vs. Used Padel Courts in the U.S.
We hear it often: "Can I find a used padel court?" It is a fair question. Padel courts can last a long time, clubs close, and courts get resold. Here is how we think about it, knowing we sell new courts.
Why used courts tempt buyers
The ticket price is lower. Used courts are also sometimes available sooner than a new order. For a private owner or a small club on a tight budget, that is appealing.
What gets expensive
- Moving it. A court is a steel frame, glass panels, mesh and turf. Taking it apart, shipping it and rebuilding it costs real money, and glass can break on the way. Courts from Europe also face customs and handling.
- U.S. approval. Your city or county will want engineering for local wind, snow and seismic loads. An older court designed for another country may not meet that without changes.
- Glass. Tempered glass is expensive to replace, and you want confirmation it meets standards that apply in the U.S., such as ANSI Z97.1 or ASTM C1048.
- Wear. Turf, fasteners and finish age. Sand infill wears down. Replacing these can add up.
- Missing parts. A court sold without a full parts list is a puzzle with pieces missing.
- No support. If something fails, there is often no manufacturer behind it.
What to inspect if you still want to look
- Glass: thickness, chips, cracks, edge damage and any paperwork.
- Frame: rust, weld quality and anchor points.
- Turf and infill: wear patterns and sand level.
- A complete parts list and the original drawings.
- Who disassembles it, who moves it, who rebuilds it, and who is responsible if something breaks.
- Whether your local building department will accept it, before you pay.
Compare the total installed cost, not the sticker price. If the seller will not let you see the court assembled and in use, that tells you something.
When used can make sense
A used court can work if it is already near your site, the seller can show a full parts list and glass documentation, and you have confirmed local approval. It works less often when the court has to cross an ocean.
Why a new court is often the safer path
- It is engineered for your state and location.
- Glass and structure meet current specifications.
- Turf, hardware and installation materials come together in the kit.
- Someone stands behind the project.

Frequently asked questions
Do you sell used padel courts?
No. Padel Craft USA does not currently sell pre-owned courts in the U.S., because moving a used court from Europe is rarely worth the cost.
Are used padel courts cheaper?
The sticker price is often lower, but dismantling, freight, customs, engineering for U.S. codes and replacement parts can close the gap. Compare complete installed totals.
What is the biggest risk with a used court?
Missing documentation and uncertain glass condition. Without a full parts list and glass paperwork, you may face extra cost or a failed inspection.
How do I know a used court meets U.S. requirements?
Ask your local building department what they require, and get engineering and glass compliance confirmed in writing before you buy.
